The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), DC Branch, is hosting a UAS event entitled “Emerging Global Approaches in the Regulation of Commercial UAS.” The event will take place on September 22, 2016, at 6pm at the British International School in Washington, DC.
Kenneth Quinn, Partner and head of the Aviation practice at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, will moderate a discussion on challenges and approaches that civil aviation authorities and the UAS industry face with emerging UAS technologies. The panel will include the following aviation professionals from the FAA and the UAS industry:
- General Marke “Hoot” Gibson, FAA Senior Advisor on UAS integration,
- Brendan Schulman, Vice President of Policy & Legal Affairs at DJI, and
- Brian Wynne, President and CEO of the Association of Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI).
Panelists will discuss the current UAS business and regulatory landscape. They will also address topics such as the international UAS framework under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the future of UAS from the manufacturers’ perspective, and the transformative applications of drone technology.
